How to install seat belts on a Jeep CJ

The aim of this video is to add two new anchor points to install seat belts on the Jeep CJ. Create one point on the roll bar at shoulder height, and one point on the floor for the retractor mechanism. You will need three-point retractable seat belt kits that can be found on the specialist website seatbeltsplus.com. Each seat has four anchor points: there is one original point on the floor. If the belt is too short, install an angled bracket to raise the mounting point. Bolted directly to the original point on the wing, behind the seat, there is already a threaded plate for the free end of the belt. The retractor is fixed with a 90° bracket to a new point on the floor, behind the seat. Drill the floor and use a large reinforcement washer. The most complex part is the shoulder anchorage, which requires a new hole in the roll bar: the reference position is about 94 cm (37") from the floor. Mark the point from the floor, drill with an 11/16" bit, and insert a piece of steel tube into the hole as reinforcement, welding it all around on both sides, cut the excess tube, and fix the upper guide of the belt with a 1/2" bolt using a reinforcement washer and a lock nut. A common issue is that aftermarket belts have a fixed male buckle that is very inconvenient. You can replace it with a "slip-fit" buckle salvaged from a scrapped car, and install stops to prevent it from slipping down.
