How to exit the "Park" configuration on a Jeep Compass

On the 2025 Jeep Compass, when the "Park" mode is engaged, the display shows "Brake On" and the vehicle does not move even when shifting to Drive. This occurs because the system requires manual confirmation. To exit Park mode, press and hold the "Park" button (or the handbrake button) for a few seconds. The "P" (Park) button is located next to or behind the selector, where there is a button with the letter "P" or an icon resembling a handbrake (a "P" with a circle around it). It can also be a manual button, often round or square with the handbrake symbol (a "P" with two lines underneath). The system will release the brake, and the display will indicate that Park mode is deactivated. At that point, you can shift to Drive and proceed. Using this procedure, you can start without damaging the vehicle in any way.
