The 9HP48 may produce vibrations on the motorway above 81 miles per hour due to slipping of the torque converter (if faulty); the reverse may 'catch' with a jolt; between 4th and 5th gear, the shift can be a bit rough; it may produce 'grinding' noises similar to a manual gearbox; the gearbox light may illuminate with errors like 'P17xxx' (hydraulic pressure issues). It is a sophisticated but delicate gearbox. With good maintenance, it lasts a long time, but if neglected, it leads to costly repairs.
