Installing Hidden Power Supply for Portable Sat Nav

Model: Kia Soul MK 1 - Years 2008-2014
Part: Accessory kit

If you use an external satellite navigation device in your car, typically attached to the windscreen or dashboard with a mount, you need to power it through the appropriate cable connected to the cigarette lighter socket. You may find yourself with a cable dangling along the dashboard, which is not only unsightly but can also be inconvenient. Consider installing an auxiliary socket to power the sat nav, hiding it in the dashboard. Obtain a cigarette lighter type power socket, attach an eyelet to the earth cable and a fuse holder to the positive; then remove the trim along the driver's door pillar and the side cap of the dashboard to access the fuse box. Connect the eyelet to the bodywork and the positive to a fuse that is powered by +15 under the ignition; then connect the cable powering the sat nav to the new power socket, concealing the wires in the dashboard.
