These brief and simple steps will show you how to disassemble and replace the cigarette lighter socket in the BMW 3 Series. First, get inside the vehicle and start by removing the shift knob; then, detach and remove the plastic cover of the center console by prying it from the sides and disconnecting the electrical connector of the knob, as shown in the video. At this point, you can remove the ashtray with the cigarette lighter socket, allowing for repair or replacement; then reinstall the lighter or the 12V socket, putting everything back together!
