Locate a black cable with a white label leading to a grey box; this is the cable that controls the seat release for the Kymco Downtown. Pull the cable gently towards you, being careful not to break it, to disengage the mechanism. This will allow the seat to open, and you may need assistance from another person to lift the seat while you pull the cable.
