How to drain all the oil from the sump of a Mercedes W212.

The method visually described by this procedure allows for the draining of half a liter more oil than usual: the goal is to let the oil flow not only from the sump but also from the galleries and the filter group. We lift the car and place it on jack stands, put a basin under the sump, and unscrew the drain plug. We do not immediately unscrew the oil filter, but wait 20/30 minutes; this way, the residual oil in the galleries has time to flow completely by gravity towards the drain hole. We can then normally remove the oil filter. We reassemble the new filter, the new drain plug, and the new sump gasket, lower the car, and refill. This way, we will remove about 0.5 liters more used oil.
