How to replace the gaskets on the rocker cover of a Mini Cooper R56.

Model: Mini Mini R57, R55, R56 - Years 2007-2014
Part: Checks and maintenance

Let's see how to replace the gasket of the tappet cover of a Mini Cooper R56: we need to remove all the bolts around the cover and clean any residue of the old gasket that may have accumulated or stuck using a cloth and some solvent. We place the new gasket (it costs 12.55 euros on auto-doc, but then there are 9.95 euros for shipping costs). In the corners (and only in the corners) we use a black silicone paste for better fixation (you can find it on Amazon for 11.89 euros, free delivery). It's a job that doesn't take more than 30 minutes.

Remove the soundproofing panel covering the cylinder head, the air filter kit (if necessary), then disconnect the coils by hand, unscrew the spark plugs with your socket wrench, and pull them out of the cylinder head. Take the new spark plugs and guide them with the extension of the socket wrench into the cylinder head, tighten them properly, secure the ignition coils, refit the previously removed panel and the air filter kit.
