On the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, the remote start function is normally activated, which essentially works through an interaction between the car, an internet connection, and a smartphone application (My Mitsubishi Connect) that allows us to remotely control the vehicle. Through a dedicated server, the command to start the engine is sent to the telematics control unit inside the car. This unit checks that safety conditions are met (such as the car being properly parked and the doors being closed) before starting the engine. However, there is also an empirical method to start the engine, as shown by the YouTuber: by holding down the top button on the remote control, we can achieve the same effect.
