Replacing Front Shock Absorbers on a Peugeot 307

In this video, you will see how to replace the front shock absorbers on a Peugeot 307: first, safely lift the vehicle, then remove the wheels. You will need to use a penetrating oil to remove the shock absorber, and you will also need to remove the stabiliser link, which will require some WD-40. This will not be a straightforward job. When the base of the shock absorber is free, ensure that the drive shaft does not come out by pushing it back into its housing to prevent oil from leaking out. Next, remove the windscreen frame and the wipers (mark their end-of-travel position with tape for correct repositioning). You will need to move the brake fluid reservoir, then remove the fabric cover fixed to the windscreen frame. This will allow you to unscrew the bolts of the shock absorber mounts, but first, position the wiper linkages in a way that allows you to work. Once you have unscrewed the upper bolt, you can pull the shock absorber out from the bottom. Now, with great care, remove the spring from the shock absorber. Once it is free from the spring, remove the top cup and slide it off. Take the new shock absorber (remember to pump it several times to activate the system), then temporarily remove the nut from the bar and reassemble the cup and buffer; insert the shock absorber correctly into the spring, mount the bellows head, the upper spring support, and the cup; secure it with the nut. Tighten well and re-compress the spring. You can then reassemble everything onto the vehicle, then reattach the hub after cleaning it thoroughly, reinsert the link into its upper support and screw it back in. Reattach the fabric cover and the windscreen frame, ensuring the seal is seated correctly. Re-screw the brake fluid reservoir, then the wiper arms. You can then reattach the wheels and lower the vehicle. Operation complete.
