How to Change the Engine Oil on a KTM 690

To change the engine oil on a KTM 690, start by warming up the engine for a few minutes to thin the oil. Turn off the engine and place the bike on a central stand for stability. Locate the oil drain plug underneath the engine. Position a collection bowl under the plug, then use an appropriate spanner to unscrew the drain plug and let the oil fully drain into the bowl. Once all the oil has drained, securely reattach the drain plug. Find the oil filler cap located on the side of the engine. Remove the cap and use a funnel to slowly pour in the recommended amount of new engine oil as stated in the owner's manual. Ensure you do not exceed the maximum level indicated. After filling with new oil, replace the filler cap and tighten it well. Start the engine for a few minutes and check for any oil leaks.
