To replace the battery on a Yamaha TDM 850, you need to loosen the screws that secure the seat to its housing. Once the seat is removed, you can access the components underneath. The battery must be freed by disconnecting the cables and unscrewing the screws that secure it to the supports from the top; additional screws need to be loosened from the side of the bike, sliding it out from the area near the rear shock absorber. The new battery can then be positioned, secured with screws, and connected to the cables.
