How to test the coils of a Renault car

In this video, we will see how to test the coils of a Renault car: you need to have a digital multimeter, and be aware of the correct resistance values for your specific coil (the values in the video are just an example). We measure the circuits inside the coil: For the low voltage: select the lowest Ohm scale on the multimeter, connect the probes to the two small pins of the coil plug: we should read a very low value (in the example 0.6 Ohm). This confirms that the primary winding is intact. For the high voltage, select a higher Ohm scale (20 kOhm in the example): put the probe in the central hole of the coil, where the spark plug goes, and the other probe on one of the two small pins. We should read a very high value, for example 6.6 kOhm, as in the video), confirming that the secondary winding is intact. If one of the two measurements is off scale, the coil is defective and must be replaced.
