Video tutorial

To replace the brake discs and pads on a Seat Arona, always work safely with axle stands. Remove the wheel.

Using a flat screwdriver, remove the two protective caps on the caliper. With a 7 mm Allen key, unscrew the two caliper retaining bolts.

If the disc or caliper bracket is stuck, insert a screwdriver and lever: the piston will retract slightly, making removal easier. Unscrew the caliper and remove it. The disc is held by a Torx T30 screw.

Unscrew it and pull out the disc. Before reassembly: clean the hub with sandpaper or abrasive disc, apply copper grease to the contact areas, clean the surface of the disc with degreaser or petrol, and file the perimeter of the new pads to avoid squeaking.

Refit the disc and tighten the T30 screw. Insert the new pads into the caliper, ensuring that the caliper tongue (the lever) is inside the caliper bracket.

Apply copper grease to the pistons. Re-screw the two pistons with the 7 mm Allen key. Refit the wheel.

Respect the tightening torque (for the Arona, about 30 Nm for the caliper bolts and 8 Nm for the disc screw). Before driving, press the brake pedal several times to bring the pads into contact with the disc.
