How to disassemble the passenger seat in a Smart Fortwo.

Model: Smart Smart 450 - Years 1998-2007
Part: Seat

In this video tutorial, we can see how it is possible to disassemble the passenger side seat in a first-generation Smart Fortwo, which was produced from 1998 to 2007. The first thing to do is to prepare the necessary materials for seat disassembly: a Torx T45 wrench and a 17mm wrench. We need to remove the eight bolts that hold the seat fixed to the frame (4 for each side); the rear bolts are positioned in the same spots for both seats, while the front ones are positioned slightly differently. Unscrew the bolts with a Torx 45 wrench. After completing this step, we need to remove the belt by simply sliding it out of the slot located above the seat and removing the bolt located below it with a 17mm wrench. Now we can remove the seat from its position.

Remove the soundproofing panel covering the cylinder head, the air filter kit (if necessary), then disconnect the coils by hand, unscrew the spark plugs with your socket wrench, and pull them out of the cylinder head. Take the new spark plugs and guide them with the extension of the socket wrench into the cylinder head, tighten them properly, secure the ignition coils, refit the previously removed panel and the air filter kit.
