Locating the Fuse Box and Its Position

Fuses are contained in a box within the engine compartment; the cover of the box indicates the fuse values, their positions, and which circuits they protect. Fuses are safety devices that protect the electrical system from potential short circuits. When a fuse blows, the causes can vary, but the most likely reason is an overload in the circuit. To check if the overload was temporary, simply replace the blown fuse with another of the same rating. If the new fuse blows again, it indicates a short circuit in the electrical system, in which case intervention is necessary to resolve the fault. If the affected electrical system returns to normal operation, the fuse may have blown due to a temporary overload or 'ageing'. The replacement is very simple; just pull the old fuse out of the socket and insert the new one, which must be of the same amperage rating.
