This video explains how to adjust or replace the tapered needle on a scooter carburettor: first, remove the two screws of the slide, pull and compress the spring towards the slide cap. Remove the small white washer inside, so you can extract the tapered needle. Take a wide flat screwdriver and rest it on the needle, on the side where the circlip is. With one finger, push the needle towards the screwdriver, while holding the circlip with the other, to make it come out. Now position it in the relevant notch and push until you hear a "click". To be more certain, push it with the screwdriver. Now the needle is in the correct position and you can reassemble it, following the instructions in reverse.
