The symptoms of a strained or injured tendon
Model: (Various brands) Various
In this video we will learn about the four main symptoms of a faulty timing belt tensioner, in order to diagnose if it is time to replace it. The symptoms of a faulty timing belt tensioner are: excessive movement of the tensioner with the car running; in fact, a strong movement of the component could indicate weak elastic force or fluid loss. We should also check that the tensioner bolts are not loose, as they would give a similar symptom. The second is a worn transmission belt, which causes slipping due to lack of pressure from the tensioner. The third symptom is a loud squealing noise; in fact, if the tensioner does not apply the right pressure on the belt, it will slip creating a loud noise, caused by grease coming out of the pulley bearings, which will dry up and create noise. The fourth symptom is oil leaks from the hydraulic tensioner, which will decrease the tensioner's force on the belt; this is only for cars equipped with it.
