How to remove the tank cap if you have lost the key

If the fuel cap of our car or van is one of those that require a key to be opened, and we may have lost it - hoping that it was a different key from the one for the starter - there is still a way to open the cap and refuel. We should consider having to change the cap, because the one we have will need to be drilled in order to insert a screwdriver underneath the lock. This way, the cap will turn around the pivot formed by the screwdriver, as if it were the key inside the lock, and it will be able to unlock and come out of its housing. A new cap will be necessary at this point, but it is not an excessive expense.
