How to Clean the Diesel Particulate Filter?

To clean the diesel particulate filter, first remove it from the car: it is generally accessible from the underside of the vehicle and can be removed by loosening its mounting bolts. Once the filter is removed, clean it using a caustic soda solution for at least two hours, or a hydrochloric acid solution for a maximum of two hours. The filter must be sealed with cork stoppers to prevent the solution from leaking once poured inside. This procedure should be performed a second time, and then wash the filter with water to prevent corrosion.
