How to check when the timing belt is due for replacement.

In this video, we see how to check the age and manufacturing date on the timing belt of a Volkswagen/Jetta MK6 with a CJAA engine. We manually rotate the engine using a torque wrench on the flywheel until we expose a clean section of the belt; we look for the belt's marking and decode the date: we will find a series of 14 digits printed on the belt; the last 6 are the ones we are interested in: in the video, they are 201121. The first 4 digits represent the year of manufacture (2011), and the last two represent the week of manufacture (21st week of 2011, which is late May to early June 2011). This tells us that the car in the video, built in November 2011, still has the original belt.
