You can replace the timing belt on a Volkswagen Golf by lifting the car so that you can remove the front right wheel and the corresponding wheel arch; after removing these components, loosen the central nut that secures the tensioner pulley to remove it from its housing, thereby reducing the tension on the timing belt. Once the old belt is removed, you can fit the new one around the respective sprockets and tension it back up.
