Volkswagen Jetta - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Jetta A5, MK 5 - Years 2005-2010
Part: Bearing
Operation: Front wheel bearing replacement

Obtain replacement bearings. Raise the car, secure it and remove the wheel. Disassemble the entire brake assembly to free the shaft. Disassemble the brake disc starting to remove the metal protection that protects the bolt which in turn must be unscrewed. With a few well-aimed blows, release the brake disc. Remove the drive shaft then disassemble the roller bearing from the hub. Thoroughly clean from old grease. Reposition the new steel ring nut of the bearing correctly then position the new bearing inside after having greased it well. Grease the bearing with your hand so that the grease penetrates thoroughly. Carefully clean the wheel shaft from the old grease, refit the disc after having greased and refit the wheel seal bolt. Spin the wheel by hand to check that there is no friction or abnormal play. Tighten the sealing screw on the hub nut. Clean the cover from the old grease and fill it with new grease. Replace the hub protection cover. Refit the brake caliper and wheel.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
