How to Remove the Front Headlamp from a Volkswagen Golf 4

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

Before you can start removing the front headlamp, you must open the bonnet and remove the bumper. To do this, you will need to unscrew the visible screws in the front wheel arch using a T25 Torx screwdriver. Once those screws are removed, proceed to remove the screws located at the top of the bumper with a T30 Torx screwdriver. At this point, you will need to remove the air ducts located at the bottom of the bumper by simply pulling them out. This will give you access to two screws, which you will unscrew and remove, freeing up space to work properly on the headlights. Start by unscrewing the two screws located at the top of the headlamp, then unscrew another two screws located at the bottom of the headlamp. Once you have finished unscrewing all the screws, you can pull the headlamp out of its housing; however, before you can remove it completely, you will need to turn the headlamp 180 degrees and disconnect the connector with the help of a flat screwdriver. Once the connector is disconnected, you will have finished removing the front headlamp.
