Where to Find the Legal Chassis Number (VIN) of the Volkswagen Touran MK2

The so-called "legal" chassis number, which the police may ask to see during a check with our registration document, is not the one displayed on the vehicle's windscreen. That is a "courtesy" chassis number used by dealers for their vehicle movement operations. The legal number is stamped on the chassis and is what the police, as well as the DVLA, want to see during a visit or check. Each vehicle has it located in a different place, depending on the model and sometimes even the version. In the case of the Volkswagen Touran MK2, you need to go to the rear passenger compartment, lift the mat behind the passenger, and you will find a horizontal cut in the carpet that, when lifted, reveals the legal chassis number.
