To disable Component Protection on Volkswagen radios, turn on the ignition so that the radio in the centre of the dashboard powers up. Once the radio is on, press and hold the power button until the device completely shuts down. After a few seconds, you will notice the screen turn off, and you can turn it back on by pressing the same button again. This will remove the message indicating that Component Protection is activated.
