How to Replace the Timing Belt on a VW Golf Mk4

Lift the bonnet and use a 15mm spanner to rotate the tensioner clockwise to relieve tension on the belt for easier removal. Now, simply remove it from the maze of wires and hoses. Retrieve the new belt and replace it in the same position as the old one. To do this, insert it following the entire circuit that the belt travels and position it correctly, using a diagram if necessary. Once the belt is in place, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise to reapply tension correctly.
