Access the side window without causing damage. Try the window lifter: if you hear the hum of the engine, the windows are out of the way or it is an engine fault. 1. Check the fuses - these components can get old over time and break when overloaded. 2. Check the wiring: first the button wires. In one of the three phases 12 Volt current should be applied. If it is missing and the fuses are not damaged, the cause is a cable failure. It is unlikely, but not impossible. The cable must be replaced. For safety also check the earth connection. 3. Check the button: Loosen the window lift button but leave it connected to the car power supply. Connect the multimeter to the motor contacts. The button must cause the current of 12 Volts. If not and the button cable is OK, the switch is defective. It is possible to repair it, but it is a delicate procedure. The quickest way is to replace it with a new or second-hand quality button.
