There have been no official house calls for the Ford Escape locks. On the forums the problem has obviously presented itself, especially since the Escape dates back to 2001, so it is about cars that are beginning to be of considerable age. However, the problems do not appear serious: most of them are rather common problems: check if the remote control battery was flat; problem which apparently is in fact the most common. In this case, just change the button battery and the problem is solved. Another common problem was a simple blown fuse. The fuse compartment in the Escape Mk1 is located in the passenger compartment, near the pedal board: just remove the plastic cover on the left side and you will find the fuses. The one related to central locking is # 26 from 30 A. Another, but less common, problem is damage to the door levers. This means that only one of the four doors is not working. We have to disassemble the inner panel and check the movement of the levers inside it: a loose screw, a bent lever, a frayed guide may have caused the damage. Again: the intense cold may have blocked the door. (if it is summer, you can immediately discard this hypothesis!) Or, last but not least - the solenoid that controls the centralized locks, may need to be replaced.
