Why is the cigarette lighter socket of the E46 not working?

Answer

The cigarette lighter socket of the BMW 3 Series, produced from 1998 to 2006, may not work anymore due to a blown fuse or a loose connection. In both cases, you can proceed independently by opening the fuse box located in the compartment to check that the fuse in question is not blown and then disassembling the socket itself if the problem persists to check the condition of the wires.
