How to Remove the Cigarette Lighter from a BMW 3 Series?

To remove the cigarette lighter from a BMW 3 Series, pull off the shift knob and detach the leather cover that wraps around the shift lever by disengaging its retaining clips. Next, you will need to remove the inner part of the shifter to push the piece containing the cigarette lighter from the inside. In addition to pushing from the inside, use a screwdriver as a lever to aid in its extraction: this will be easier after removing the clock. At this point, you can extract the piece containing the cigarette lighter, which must be disconnected from its connector and can then be replaced.
