How do you remove the ignition lock of the Mercedes A-Class?

Answer

First, remove the chromed plastic frame around the ignition switch using a suitable ring nut tool or screwdrivers (which could scratch the plastic, however). Remove the bezel around the instrument cluster as well as the bezel that surrounds the steering wheel and which includes a headset. At this point, press the ignition lock from the outside towards the inside to release it from its seat. Retrieve the block in the lower part of its seat and unhook it from its wiring. It does not fall into that type of do-it-yourself interventions unless you have specific knowledge on the subject.
