How to Replace the Key Fob Battery for an Audi

Model: Audi Tt 8J, MK 2 - Years 2006-2014
Part: Key

To replace the key fob battery for an Audi vehicle (this video demonstrates on an Audi TT), first, remove the key from its designated slot. Inside the key slot, there is a specific groove that allows you to use something like a pen to press and lift the small plastic cover protecting the battery and its compartment. Once lifted, you can fully open the battery cover using a kitchen knife, for example. At this point, you have access to the battery and can replace it with a new one. To reassemble, simply follow the steps shown in the images in reverse order.

If you want to improve visibility inside the boot compartment, it is recommended to replace the original incandescent bulb with a LED type (T10 fitting); once the rear hatch is opened, locate the bulb holder positioned on the side, near the shock absorber dome, where the plastic grille is located. Then, lever the retaining tab to extract the bulb holder, disconnect the power connector, and remove the old bulb to replace it with the LED one; reconnect the power, check the correct operation of the bulb (if not, rotate it 180°), and reposition the bulb holder in its place.
