Change Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter

Model: Audi A4 B6 - Years 2000-2004
Part: Transmission fluid

To change the fluid in the automatic transmission, first raise the car on a lift. Unscrew the small drain plug for the fluid. Next, remove the pan by unscrewing all the screws around it. Once the pan is off, remove the filter. Clean the pan, paying attention to the six magnets inside that attract any metallic debris and prevent it from circulating with the fluid. Reposition the magnets and the gasket (which should not be rubber) using special spray. Reinstall the filter and then the pan, initially screwing in all the screws, then tightening them evenly, alternating from one side to the other. Now add the appropriate type of fluid, about five and a half quarts. Then unscrew the larger plug on the pan and insert the pump nozzle. Pump about 3/4 of the fluid until it starts to overflow. At this point, start the car so the pump can circulate the fluid. Check the temperature, which should be around 104-113°F for optimal level, and test all gear positions. Car model: Audi A4 2.8 Year: 2001
Required tools: fluid pump, Torx wrenches T27, T40.
