In this video we can see how the system that operates at very low emissions combines internal engine measures with a new exhaust gas treatment system to minimize engine emissions. The hot exhaust gases are first led to a catalytic converter, where hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide are converted into carbon dioxide and water. In the next phase, the gases reach the particulate filter, where particles are removed from the gas flow and collected in the filter structure. The filter is regenerated at regular intervals and carbon particles are removed through combustion. To minimize nitrogen, we go to the last phase where a urea-based solution, known by the trade name AdBlue, is sprayed, releasing ammonia into the exhaust system; in this way the catalyst reduces nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and water. This system meets strict US requirements.
