Replacing the Rear Suspension Control Arm

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Control arm

Lift the vehicle on appropriate jack stands and remove the rear wheel; then remove the plastic wheel well liner to access the mounting pins of the control arms to the suspension arm more easily. While removing the control arms, support the suspension with a jack. Next, remove the nut securing the control arm to the hub while holding the control arm shaft with a 7 mm wrench. Also, remove the mounting pin of the control arm from the suspension arm and take it out of its seat. Then, install the new control arm and tighten the respective mounting pins.
