Video tutorial
Before starting on the Citroen C4 Picasso II, open the bonnet and unscrew the brake fluid cap. Lift the car, place it on axle stands, and remove the rear wheels. If the car has an electric handbrake, it is necessary to put it in maintenance mode using a diagnostic tool (or, on some models, a button sequence) before working on the piston. Otherwise, the electric motor resists and may burn out. With the brake released, insert a flat screwdriver into the caliper slot and lever to retract the piston (on some models, it also needs to be turned clockwise with a special tool). Unscrew the two guide bolts of the caliper with a female Torx E14 key, remove the caliper and hang it on the shock absorber spring. Remove the old pads, take off the anti-noise springs, and clean the bracket with a wire brush. You can find new Brembo pads on Amazon with code B019NCBMRU at a price of £44.28 with free delivery for Prime customers. Fit the new springs, apply copper grease to the ends of the pads, and insert them in the correct position: the pad with two pins goes on the outside, and the one with three pins goes on the piston side. Refit the caliper and tighten the bolts with a torque wrench. Crucially, reactivate the electric brake with the diagnostic tool, then press the brake pedal several times with the car on to bring the pads closer to the disc. Refit the wheels. For the first 50 miles, avoid harsh braking.
