Steering Rack Repair Instructions

It is common for wear in the sliding bush of the steering rack to create play, leading to noise, especially when driving on uneven surfaces. You can replace this bush without removing the entire steering rack, just the tie rod from the passenger side. Remove the ball joint from the hub support, the retaining clip from the gaiter, and unscrew the tie rod complete with the ball joint from the steering rack. Remove any remnants of the old bush and insert the new one, pushing it in until fully seated using a tube. Then, reassemble the tie rod and ball joint, securing the gaiter with a new clip.
