How to Replace the Rear Shock Absorbers on a Fiat Punto Evo

To replace the rear shock absorbers on a Fiat Punto Evo, start by loosening the wheel bolts, lifting the car, and removing the wheel. Once the wheel is off, use a 10mm socket to remove the rear wheel arch bolt (near the shock absorber). Move the wheel arch out of the way and clean the area around the upper bolts with a wire brush, applying lubricant to both the upper and lower bolts. Now, use an 18mm socket to remove the lower bolt while loosening the upper bolts with a 16mm socket. Once the shock absorber is removed from the car, secure it in a vice and remove the top nut from the plate using a 16mm socket (after cleaning with a wire brush and applying lubricant). After removing the plate, place it on the new shock absorber and tighten the nut with a 16mm socket (torque setting with a torque wrench 50Nm). With the plate secured, position the shock absorber and fasten it with the upper and lower bolts. Once the shock absorber is in place with the bolts, tighten the upper bolts with a 16mm socket (torque setting with a torque wrench 40Nm), tighten the lower bolt with an 18mm socket (torque setting with a torque wrench 70Nm), and apply copper grease to the bolts. At this point, you can tighten the inner wheel arch bolt with a 10mm socket, clean the brake drum with a wire brush, applying copper grease as well, position the wheel, and tighten the bolts. Lower the car and finally tighten the bolts. Repeat the same procedure on the other side.
