Guide to Replacing Engine Oil and the Related Filter

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011
Part: Engine oil

With the engine warm, position yourself on a flat surface and lift the car without tilting it; you can also work without raising it if you can manage.

Then unscrew the plug located under the engine block after placing a container with a minimum capacity of 5 litres underneath and let the oil drain out; this may take up to 30 minutes during which you can unscrew the filler cap located in the bonnet and the dipstick for checking the level.

Next to the filler cap, you will find the filter; first, remove the Torx screw that holds the filter cover, then using the upper shape, unscrew the top part of the filter with a spanner to replace the cartridge, taking care of the oil that will spill out. First, replace the rubber gasket, then change the filter cartridge and reassemble everything, finally securing the cover with the Torx screw.

Refit the plug at the base of the engine block and proceed to top up the oil, using a funnel, until reaching the level recommended by the car's user and maintenance manual. Remember to respect the correct oil specifications, SAE 5W-40 for the Fiat Punto 1.3 MultiJet in the video.
