How to Repair the Fuel Cap on the Fiat Punto

To open the fuel tank cap, use the vehicle's ignition key. Once the flap is opened, insert the key and turn it to unlock the cap for removal. When closed, the cap's head turns freely and cannot be opened. This mechanism is operated by a plastic pin held in tension by a small spring, activated by the lock. If this plastic pin is damaged, it will block the cap cover, causing difficulties in both opening and closing. To perform this repair, separate the cap cover from the stem by prying along the edge to extract the plastic pin, the corresponding spring, and the retaining clip of the lock, followed by the lock itself. Reassemble everything, removing any plastic debris and inserting a new pin.
