Fiat 500 - Video tutorial

Model: Fiat 500 312 - Years 2007-2023
Part: Brake discs
Operation: Replacement of brake discs and pads

Disassemble the wheel and carefully disassemble the caliper by removing the two stops. Remove the electrical contacts. Remove the caliper support bracket using a 17 ratchet wrench by unscrewing the two rear screws and moving it away. Using a size 12 wrench, unscrew the two screws holding the disc while holding it still. If the disc is blocked, use a rubber hammer and deal a few blows until it comes out completely from the pin. Carefully clean the support with deoxidizing spray. Clean new discs before installation to remove the preservative grease layer. Refit the disc by aligning the fixing holes. Use new screws for fastening if possible. Tighten the nuts in turn with a torque wrench in order to secure it perfectly in its seat without play. Reassemble the bracket by cleaning and greasing the fixing screws, then always tighten them with a torque wrench. Refit the pad caliper and wheel. The pad with the electrical contacts must be mounted inwards, paying attention to the direction of travel. Realign the piston and check the adherence of the pads to the disc.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
