Replacing Brake Discs and Pads

Model: Fiat 500 312 - Years 2007-2024

Remove the wheel and gently detach the caliper by removing the two retaining clips. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the caliper support bracket using a 17 mm ratchet spanner, unscrewing the two rear screws and set it aside. Using a 12 mm spanner, unscrew the two retaining screws of the disc while holding it steady. If the disc is stuck, use a rubber mallet and tap it until it completely comes off the hub. Clean the support thoroughly with a degreasing spray. Clean the new discs before installation to remove the protective grease. Refit the disc, aligning the fixing holes. Use new screws for fastening if possible. Tighten the nuts in a criss-cross pattern with a torque wrench to secure it perfectly in place without play. Refit the bracket, cleaning and lubricating the fixing screws, then tighten them with a torque wrench. Refit the caliper, pads, and wheel. The pad with the electrical connectors should be mounted facing inwards, paying attention to the direction of travel. Realign the piston and check the pads' adherence to the disc.
