To adjust the handbrake on a Ford Kuga 2, park the vehicle on a flat surface and ensure it is secure. Access the area of the handbrake lever, located in the centre console. In many versions, you may need to remove the plastic cover or trim around the lever to reach the cable adjuster. Once you locate the adjustment nut, use a spanner to tighten or loosen the handbrake cable. The lever should engage correctly after a few clicks, without being too stiff or too loose. After adjustment, check that the rear wheels lock properly with the handbrake applied and that they spin freely when the handbrake is released. Finally, reassemble the console covers and test the handbrake operation safely before using the vehicle normally.
