How to Remove the Spare Wheel from a Ford Ranger

This video addresses a common question as there are two methods and different access points. As the video explains, most users use the wrong point, which is the hole in the bumper near the number plate.

Theoretically, you insert the tool provided by Ford (a long metal bar with a tip) into this hole and turn it to unlock the mechanism holding the spare wheel. On some models, this mechanism may jam, or simply not be the correct one for your specific configuration.

Instead, if we look for a square-headed bolt located under the vehicle, near the rear bumper, insert the same bar (as mentioned) onto this bolt and turn it to loosen the cable holding the spare wheel raised under the chassis. This is the direct access point to the lifting mechanism, without intermediaries that may jam.
