How to remove the door handle of the Ford Focus

On the Ford Focus, the external handle is secured to the door panel via a locking system hidden on the edge of the door. This allows for removal without disassembling the entire inner panel, but requires precision to avoid damaging the paint and clips. With the door open, locate a small cap or service hole on the inner edge. Removing the cover gives access to the screw that holds the handle lock. Loosen the screw without completely removing it: it only needs to be freed to release the clip holding the rear cap of the handle. Once loosened, the rear part of the handle can be pulled outwards. This step is crucial as it creates the necessary space to slide the main body of the handle forward. With the handle slightly pulled, advance it and then extract it from the door panel. During this operation, be careful of the internal rod connected to the opening mechanism. The cable remains attached to the handle and should be detached gently, avoiding twists that could bend it or break its terminal. At this point, the handle is completely free. Reassembly is done in reverse order: reconnect the rod, insert the handle into its slot by sliding it until it is flush, then reposition the rear cap and tighten the screw on the door edge. Before closing everything, it’s advisable to test the door opening, ensuring the movement is smooth and that the lock engages correctly.
