To change the oil of a Harley Davidson Sportster engine, start by making sure the engine is cold or warm. Lift the bike on a stand to ensure stability. Find the oil drain plug on the bottom side of the engine and position a collection container underneath it. Use a wrench to unscrew the drain plug and let the used oil drain completely. Once drained, remove and check the oil filter. Replace it if necessary, making sure to lubricate the new filter with engine oil. Tighten the drain plug with the correct torque. Pour the new oil into the oil tank using a funnel until reaching the correct amount, as indicated in the owner's manual. At this point, close the oil tank cap, and the replacement is complete.
