For motorcycles, just like cars, it is advisable to position them in a way that ensures safety and stability for the operator's safety whenever maintenance is to be performed. Once done, proceed to remove the ignition switch. Disconnect the battery connection, unscrew the ring surrounding the key entry hole, and push the switch to remove it from its housing. Unscrew the screws that secure the electrical connections (keeping one as a reference for mounting on the new switch) and attach them to the new ignition switch. Reconnect the battery and test the ignition operation. After this check (if it works), reassemble everything following the operations seen but in reverse order.
