To determine if the brushes on the Honda Silver Wing are worn out, inspect the motor, remove the cover from the relay, which has the input from the 12V battery and the output to the starter motor. Without needing to start the bike, simply make contact between the two terminals with a screwdriver, and if the starter motor does not engage, this is already an important signal. To be certain, take a piece of metal, place it on the motor, and connect the two terminals with the screwdriver. If tapping the starter motor gets it to start, it means 100% that the brushes are worn out. This forced starting should be done 4-5 times, after which the brushes must be replaced.
