How to Replace the Cabin Filter in Your Car

You can change the cabin air filter yourself; the procedure is very simple. Just follow the steps in this guide to save money on mechanic fees. The first step is to remove the dashboard trim. Be careful, as the trim is secured with screws and is also clipped in along its entire length and at the sides. Carefully remove the trim while paying attention to the connection of the cigarette lighter. The cigarette lighter has a visible cable that must be disconnected. There is no need to remove anything else; you will see the hazard light switch, but do not touch it; leave it connected to the dashboard. Now locate the filter and pull it towards you in the same direction it is installed. The rest is straightforward: position the new air filter and reverse the procedure just described.
