How to Inspect and Clean the MAP Sensor on a 2020 Kia Sorento

Inspect and clean the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor on a Kia Sorento. This sensor measures the absolute pressure in the intake manifold. Symptoms of a dirty or faulty MAP sensor include irregular or poor acceleration, unstable revs, high fuel consumption, and an illuminated engine warning light. On this vehicle, the MAP sensor is located in the engine bay, on the side of the intake manifold. It is a small component with an electrical connector, secured with a single bolt. Disconnect it, remove the 8 mm bolt that secures it, take it out of its housing, and inspect the tip of the sensor (the part inserted into the manifold). If it is dirty, oily, or covered in carbon deposits, it needs cleaning. Check with a multimeter set to resistance (20 K Ohm) to ensure continuity between the terminals. If one is open, the sensor must be replaced. To clean it, use a specific MAF/MAP sensor cleaner, spraying it on the tip of the sensor and allowing it to act for a few seconds. Do not touch it with your fingers, and avoid using sharp objects to scrape it; let it air dry. Then refit the sensor and reconnect the connector.
